84 Yardley Green Road

The house we lived in (84) is the one with two cars in the white front garden and a black one half on the footpath. A lot of work has been done to it and its neighbours since I knew it.”

I comment: Including extra rooms on the back. when I knew the house, the piano was in the back (dining) room. Later, the room was used to ”lay out’ Auntie Annie, and Agnes spent her last days there and was also ”laid out”. She had died and the sisters led by Gladys came to prepare her. Once washed and dressed she remained there until collected by the funeral organiser. The curtains wer drawn front and back.[editor’s note: this was still common practice in the early sixties, the family taking care of their own].
