School
College Road School, pictured here, was where all (or at least most) of our Mother’s were educated, leaving to earn money for the family at fourteen as was the law in those days. It was raised to that level in 1918, and before that they were allowed to leave at 13 or even 12 to start manual jobs.

My Mother’s (girls) class in about 1916 assuming she is about age 8. She has a blue biro cross on her heart (third row back on the left). It is possible that other sisters are in the picture, but it does rather look like an age segregation class so it is unlikely.
