Ian must have had a deep rummage and produced this gem. Emily Jane is pictured holding “young” Arthur Short (Gladys) and Ian Hill (Agnes). Both were born in 1928, so say they were one year old at most, then the picture dates back to 1929.

But… which is whom? I would say that Ian is on the left. I love the hair of Emily, it looks soft and fine and luxurious. My Mother hated her hair which she complained was too fine and whispy.

I have Arthur down as passing in 1994, so that was when Ian and I met up for the funeral with Laurance, but I can’t remember where. It was an un-wake event so the three of us attended a pub across the road for a post-service pick me up.
