Harry writes:
The Uncle Jo legacy created much mirth and humour I recall – but who was he? Presumably a brother of the parents. He left a will and at some point we were assembled at Agnes’ house at 84 Yardley Green Road, Yardley. Gladys was there, obviously Agnes, Ivy and Bert, Me. The will was read out, just like the £100, and I sniggered, or made a joyous sound, and my Mother gave me a “look” to shut me up. It was pre-arranged that we would buy Uncle Charles a pen to say thank you for being an executor of the will, and I went with my Mother to probably The Midland Educational stationery shop in one of the arcades near Snow Hill Station to buy it. It was a lovely stubby pen, I thought by Mont Blanc.
Joe Raybould iron worker came from Netherton . aunt margaret brown ran a pub in adderly road saltley
l did research s bit more of the browns. found some more records in stafford. 1780 circa lt seems that we were licenced victuallers or brewers. Granny short said granny raybould remembers having pink silk shoes and piano lessons before her parents died 1875. will get the data out of my box and let you have it also some photoes of the oil paintings lan gave me. l have copies of death cards and a copy of a letter granny rayboulds sister wrote to her in the orphanage. there is an interesting section on the allens and there will be records of the browns in aston parish church records which l have not accessed yet. Bham uni did a project on aston and there are browns in that.
Im interested in a Mary Raybould who was biorn in 1807b or 1809 and married a man called william jukes. Im interested in the Raybould name origns as i had a relativfe with this name.
Hello Steven.
Apologies for the delay in replying. That’s not a name that’s familiar I’m afraid. The Raybould name covers a large number of people originating in the Black Country amongst chain makers I believe. There is a FB group called RAYBOULD’S of the World, or similar, possibly there is information there that may assist.
Kind regards, the son of a Raybould daughter.
